# How do the AI trip planner and Optimize work?

Stippl can generate a starting itinerary for you with AI, and Pro accounts can go further with Optimize and AI-generated day plans.

###### Generating a trip with AI
Start AI trip generation from the empty planner in the app, or from the home or discover page on web. Generation usually takes around 1 to 2 minutes. You can close the screen while it works, the app can send you a push notification when the trip is ready.

AI suggestions can be imperfect. Treat the generated trip as a starting point, then review and edit it to fit what you actually want.

|| Free accounts can generate 2 AI trips. After that, generating more requires Stippl Pro.

If a trip generation seems stuck for much longer than a couple of minutes, message us and we will look into it.

###### Optimizing your trip
Optimize rebuilds or reorders your route based on your preferences, such as keeping certain destinations locked, reducing transport time, staying longer in fewer places, planning a round trip, or favoring nature or beach time. You can also add a free-text wish to guide it further.

|| Optimize requires a Stippl Pro subscription.

Optimize shows you a preview before applying anything, and you can restart the optimization as many times as you like before confirming.

||| Applying an optimization replaces your trip plan, including destinations, hotels, and details. It cannot be undone, so review the preview carefully before tapping "Use optimized trip".

###### Generating a day plan for a destination

|| Generating a day plan requires a Stippl Pro subscription.

On a destination's notes, you can generate a day-by-day plan for that destination, with an optional hint such as "avoid the main highlights". The result is added to the destination's notes, where you can edit it freely.
