# How to check if your iOS device supports eSIM?

Not all devices support eSIM. Use the steps below to confirm compatibility and unlock status.

###### Which iPhones support eSIM?
Any iPhone from the XS/XR generation (2018) or newer supports eSIM, including every model released since.

|| iPhones purchased in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao may not support eSIM even if the model is from 2018 or later.

|| Stippl eSIMs are for iPhone only, iPads and Android devices are not supported.

###### When in doubt, check your device
1. Open **Settings** > **General** > **About**.
2. Tap **Model Number** until it switches to the AXXXX format.
3. Scroll to **Carrier Lock**. If it says **No SIM restrictions**, your iPhone is unlocked.

###### How to check if your iPhone is unlocked
Go to **Settings** > **General** > **About**, then scroll to **Carrier Lock**. It must say **No SIM restrictions** to use Stippl eSIM.

If your device is locked, contact your current carrier to request an unlock.
