# My trip invite link isn't working. What can I check?

There are two different links in Stippl, and mixing them up is the most common cause of confusion:

* **Share trip link**: read-only. People who open it can view and follow your trip, not edit it.
* **Invite trip members link**: full access. People who join become trip members and can edit the itinerary, add expenses, upload documents, and write journals.

To plan a trip together, open the trip menu and use **Invite**, then **Invite trip members**.

###### If the invite link doesn't work

1. **Create an account first.** The invitee needs a Stippl account and must be logged in before the link can add them to the trip.
2. **Open the link in a browser.** If tapping the link opens the app on the home screen without joining the trip, open the same link in a browser instead, log in there, and you will be added to the trip. It then appears in the app as well.
3. **Update the app.** Older app versions sometimes missed the join step when opening an invite link.
4. **Check it is the right link.** Ask the trip owner to send the link from **Invite trip members**, not from **Share trip link**.

###### Good to know about trip members

* Trip members do not need their own Pro subscription to join and edit a shared trip. Some Pro features stay tied to the subscriber's own account.
* Everyone who joins a trip can edit it; there is currently no view-only member role. For a view-only experience, use the share link instead.
* You can remove a member via the trip's travel party settings.
* Did someone end up following the trip instead of joining it? Simply send them the invite link; the follow does not need to be undone first.
