# What do people see when I share my trip link?

Sharing your trip gives friends and family a read-only view. Nobody can edit anything through the share link.

###### What viewers see

Anyone who opens your share link in a browser can view your trip, without needing an account or the app:

* On a phone: your itinerary plus your published journal entries with photos
* On a computer: your itinerary with the trip map; journals are best viewed on a phone or in the app
* With the Stippl app, they can also follow you and see new journal posts as you publish them

What viewers never see: your budget and expenses, and your documents. Those are only visible to trip members.

###### Sharing step by step

1. Open the trip menu.
2. Tap **Share trip**.
3. On the share screen, tap the **Trip link** tab.
4. Send the link via any app you like.

###### Trip privacy

Your trip's privacy setting decides who can view your trip:

* **Public**: anyone with the link can view your trip.
* **Followers**: for friends and family who follow your profile.
* **Private**: only you and your trip members.

To share your trip with a link, set it to **Public** in the trip settings. If your link does not show anything for the recipient, this is the first thing to check.

###### Want people to edit, not just view?

Then you need the invite link instead: see ["My trip invite link isn't working. What can I check?"](https://stippl.crisp.help/en/article/my-trip-invite-link-isnt-working-what-can-i-check-1wuz3n0/) for the difference between followers and trip members.
