# When can I install my Stippl eSIM?

Installing your eSIM at the right time is important, especially since your plan activates when it first connects to a local network.

###### When does activation start?

Stippl eSIMs activate when they first connect to a supported local network in your destination country. This means:

* You can install the eSIM before you travel — it won't use any data until you arrive
* The validity period starts only when the eSIM connects to a supported network abroad

###### When to install

* Install **before** you leave — you don't need Wi-Fi at your destination
* You need a **stable Wi-Fi connection** on your iPhone during installation itself
* Check the **installation window** shown on your eSIM in the Stippl app — some eSIMs can only be installed within a certain period after purchase

###### What you need

* An eSIM-compatible, unlocked iPhone (iPhone XR or later)
* iOS 16 or later (iOS 17.2+ for direct in-app activation)
* A stable Wi-Fi connection during installation
