You can add a custom place to your itinerary if it is not in our search results, or if you already have an external booking link (e.g. Airbnb).

Add a custom accommodation

Tap on your destination in the app.
Select Sleep, then tap Or add a link below the search bar.
Paste the booking URL into the field.
Enter the requested details (dates, price, and so on) and save.

Add a custom activity or restaurant

The same option is available when adding See & Do and Eat & Drink places.

Tap on your destination in the app.
Select See & Do or Eat & Drink, then search for your place.
If search does not find it, choose the add manually option.
Enter the name, use the address search to set the location, and add any optional details, such as a website link.

|| There is no map pin-drop for custom places. The address always comes from the address search.

Need a different hotel for different nights at the same destination?

Stippl shows one accommodation per destination, covering all the nights you spend there. If you are switching hotels partway through your stay, the workaround is to add the same destination twice:

Add the destination once for the first date range (e.g. nights 1-3) and set your first accommodation.
Add the destination again for the second date range (e.g. nights 4-6) and set your second accommodation.

Each "leg" of your stay at that destination can then have its own hotel.

How do I add a cruise or overnight boat trip to my itinerary?

To include a cruise or other overnight boat trip in your itinerary:

Add your departure city and your arrival city as separate destinations.
Tap the distance indicator shown in red between the two destinations.
Select Boat as the transport method.
Scroll down and toggle on Overnight transport.
Enter the number of nights you'll be on the cruise.

Your overnight boat trip will now appear correctly in your itinerary.

The Overnight transport toggle isn't just for boats. It's available on every transport type, including train, bus, car, and flight. This works the same way for overnight trains, buses, and flights: add the transport, open it, and switch on Overnight transport, then set the number of nights.

How can I manage and review settled expenses in the app?

When you settle shared trip expenses in the app, you might settle a balance too early or want to review past settlements. This article explains what happens when you settle expenses, where to find them, and how to continue working with your balances.

Can I "unsettle" an expense?

Once you mark an expense (or group of expenses) as settled, it cannot be reversed or "unsettled". This action is permanent and gives you a clear, unchangeable record of when balances were closed out. Settled expenses are locked and cannot be edited or deleted.

Where can I view my settled expenses?

Open the relevant Trip.
Tap Budget within the trip menu.
Tap Balance at the bottom of the screen.
Select Settlements.

Here you'll find a chronological list of all settlement events, including dates, participants, and amounts.

What's the best workaround if I settled too early?

If you closed out your expenses before you intended to, use this simple approach:

Note the final settled balance shown under Trip > Budget > Balance > Settlements.
Treat that figure as your new starting balance.
Continue adding any new or outstanding expenses as usual.

This keeps all expenses, both before and after your early settlement, accurately accounted for in your trip's running balance.

What should I do if I see the error “This code is no longer valid”?

When an eSIM cannot be added and the message "This code is no longer valid" appears, it usually means one of the following:

The eSIM has already been installed (most common)
The QR code was scanned incorrectly
Too many eSIMs are stored on your device
A VPN is interfering with installation

Step-by-Step Fix

Check for existing installation

Go to Settings > General > About > scroll to ICCID
If you see a number and your Stippl eSIM is listed under Cellular Plans, it's already installed

If it's installed, turn on the line and enable data roaming:
Go to Settings > Cellular > tap the relevant eSIM > toggle Turn On This Line ON
Still on the same eSIM, scroll down and toggle Data Roaming ON
Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data and select the relevant eSIM
Restart your phone to (re)connect to the local network

Disable any VPNs

VPNs can interrupt installation. Turn off any VPN apps before retrying.

Clear unused eSIMs

iOS limits the number of stored eSIMs. Delete old ones:
- Go to Settings > Cellular > tap the eSIM > Remove Cellular Plan

Update your device

Make sure you're running the latest version of iOS.

Try manual installation

In the Stippl app: eSIM > select your eSIM > Installation Instructions > Get Started > Not working? Install eSIM manually (below the "Install Now" button)

After topping up

Your new data is added and your usage refreshes immediately, you do not need to wait for your current plan to expire.

If your device doesn't reflect the new balance right away, restart it or toggle Airplane Mode ON and OFF to refresh the connection.
