How do validity periods and data packages work?

Each Stippl eSIM comes with a fixed amount of data that is valid for a set number of days. You must use that data before either the data limit or time runs out.

When does the validity start?

Stippl eSIMs activate when they first connect to a supported local network in your destination country — not when you install the eSIM or purchase it.

  • You can install the eSIM before your trip without starting the clock
  • The validity period begins the moment you connect to a local network abroad

Example:

A "3GB / 7-day" plan gives you 3GB of data usable anytime within 7 days of activation (not 3GB per day). If you use all 3GB on day 2, the eSIM stops working even though 5 days remain.

What happens when your plan runs out?

If you run out of data or your validity period ends, your eSIM will stop providing a connection. You can check whether your eSIM supports top-ups in the Stippl app — look for the Top up now button on your eSIM.
