How to install and set up a Stippl eSIM on iOS?

Before beginning installation, ensure:

  • Your iPhone is eSIM-compatible and network-unlocked (Stippl eSIMs are for iPhone only — iPads and Android devices are not supported)
  • You have a stable Wi-Fi connection

Installation methods

Stippl offers two ways to install your eSIM. The app guides you through the right steps automatically.

Option 1: Direct Installation (recommended, iOS 17.2+)

If your iPhone runs iOS 17.2 or later, you can install directly in the app:

  1. Open the Stippl app and go to eSIM
  2. Tap your eSIM, then tap Installation instructions
  3. Tap Get started and follow the in-app steps
  4. When prompted, tap Install to add the eSIM directly to your iPhone

Option 2: QR Code Installation

Use this if direct installation is not available on your device:

  1. Open the Stippl app and go to eSIM
  2. Tap your eSIM, then tap Installation instructions > Get started
  3. You'll see a QR code — scan it using a second device or follow the on-screen prompt
  4. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM
  5. Tap Use QR Code and scan the code
  6. Your eSIM will appear as Secondary in your Cellular settings — this is the iOS default label

Option 3: Manual Installation

  1. In the Stippl app: eSIM > your eSIM > Installation instructions > Get started > Not working? Install eSIM manually
  2. Note down your SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code
  3. On your iPhone: Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code > Enter Details Manually
  4. Enter the values exactly as shown in the Stippl app

After installation: configure your eSIM

Once the eSIM is installed, complete these steps to use data:

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data
  2. Select your Stippl eSIM (Secondary)
  3. Go back and tap your Stippl eSIM > toggle Data Roaming ON
  4. Under Allow Mobile Data Switching, make sure it is OFF — this prevents your iPhone from switching back to your primary SIM unexpectedly

After setup, toggle Airplane Mode ON and OFF to refresh your connection.
