What to do if I see "Cellular Plans From This Carrier Cannot be Added"?

This error typically appears when your iPhone cannot accept the eSIM from the carrier network.

Common causes:
  • Your device is carrier-locked to another provider
  • You have reached the maximum number of stored eSIMs on your device
  • A software issue on your device

What to do:

  1. Check if your iPhone is unlocked
    • Go to Settings > General > About > scroll to Carrier Lock
    • It must say No SIM restrictions to install a Stippl eSIM
    • If your device is locked, contact your carrier to request an unlock

  1. Remove unused eSIMs
    • iOS allows a limited number of stored eSIMs. Delete any old ones:
    • Settings > Cellular > tap an unused eSIM > Remove Cellular Plan
    • Then retry installation

  1. Update iOS
    • Make sure you're running the latest version of iOS: Settings > General > Software Update

  1. Restart your device and retry
    • Restart your iPhone, then attempt installation again from the Stippl app

If the error persists after unlocking and clearing old eSIMs, contact Stippl support with the email address linked to your Stippl account and we'll investigate.
